Abstract

Considering the unforeseen use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in
pedagogical processes as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as their role in
returning to face-to-face learning, several variables stand out that are worthy of being analyzed
as a way of to contribute to the improvement of the student performance of the IED Sonia
Ahumada de Barranquilla. Hence, this article shows a work that aimed to analyze the mediation
of ICT contextualized in mathematics for the improvement of student academic performance,
framed in the deductive rationalist paradigm, complementary mixed approach. Regarding the
research design, the descriptive, analytical and explanatory typology is considered, designed
through the application of an Interview with the 3 teachers of the 6th grade and Surveys of the
38 students of this level of the IED Sonia Ahumada, under an intentional sampling not
probabilistic that resorted to the selection of the degree with less performance within the
institution. Part of the main results showed that in the PEI and SIE of the Sonia Ahumada
institution, certain bases are contemplated for the didactics of mathematics and mediation with
ICT, while teachers and students emphasize the importance of these variables for the
improvement of student performance. , which allowed us to conclude that the activities in the
area of Mathematics demand the incorporation of didactics, being of great impact in the
development of the competences that imply the use of ICT.
