Knowledge Management and Sustainable Innovation in SMEs: Emerging Perspectives from Latin America

Objective: To analyze emerging trends related to knowledge management and sustainable innovation in Latin American SMEs, identifying theoretical approaches, organizational dynamics, and challenges associated with digital transformation in emerging economies. Methodology: The study was conducted through a narrative literature review with an analytical and documentary approach, based on scientific production indexed in Scopus and published between 2021 and 2025. The documents were systematized into thematic categories associated with organizational digital learning, open innovation, business resilience, circular economy, digital platforms, big data, and Industry 4.0. Results and conclusions: The findings showed that Latin American SMEs are progressively integrating platforms, artificial intelligence, and knowledge networks to strengthen resilience and competitiveness, although technological limitations, business informality, and weaknesses in innovation processes persist. It is concluded that knowledge management constitutes a fundamental strategic capability for driving sustainable business transformation in emerging economies, especially when it is linked to ethical governance, Industry 4.0 technologies, and collaborative alliances between universities, businesses, and local stakeholders.
